Anastasia is a Biologist with a Master’s degree in Oceanography and a PhD in Biology. Her doctoral research focused on the effects of anthropogenic pressure on viral and bacterial plankton communities. Her work emphasizes on microbial plankton –specifically, their diversity, genome content, biomass and production rates– under global climate change phenomena (acidification, warming), as well as exposure to pollutants, eutrophication, and aquaculture activity. She combines fieldwork in coastal and offshore waters with laboratory experiments (micro/mesocosm studies), employing a range of multidisciplinary tools (imaging, -omics, flow cytometry, kinetics, radioactive isotope labeling).
