From 2016, the Institute of Oceanography and especially the department of Marine Chemistry is operating a fully equipped mobile laboratory aiming at upgrading coastal works and improve the sample collection and analyze basic analytical biotic and abiotic measurements in-situ. The mobile lab has been effectively used in fast response actions such as the recent (September 2017) oil spill accident in the Saronikos Gulf that impacted the coasts of Attica.
