Mediterranean Innovation STRAtegy for transnational activity of clusters and networks of the Blue Growth
MISTRAL projectis part of the European Transnational Cooperation Programme “Interreg MED” that aims to strengthen a transnational partnership made up of 8 countries (2 Ministries, 8 Regions, 5 Clusters, 3 RTOs and other organizations). A clustering innovation service pack for Blue Growth clusters and operators will improve the innovation performance of at least 300 SMEs with at least 100 experts benefitting from the transnational activities and exchange programmes on capacity building. The ambition is to develop a wider governance vision towards 2020 in the BG sector as well as assuring the effective policy mainstreaming. The overall objectives of MISTRAL project are to:
– Create a favorable environment for innovation
– Transfer knowledge from research to the blue economy
– Strengthening transnational cooperation in the MED area
– Linking and harmonising initiatives, projects, strategies and policies avoiding fragmentation
For this purpose, MISTRAL will tackle the many technical challenges in five selected maritime economy sectors through increasing the share of knowledge:
Blue Energy-Smart adaptation of the existing marine renewable energy technologies;
Fishing & Aquaculture-Integrated and multi sectoral approaches to the management of fish stocks;
Maritime Surveillance-The systematic observation of surface and subsurface sea areas for the purpose of locating, identifying and determining the impacts on the marine environment;
Blue Biotechnologies-New bioproducts in the manufacturing of nutraceutical, cosmetics and health products;
Coastal and Maritime tourism-Strategic foresight for sustainable coastal and maritime tourism.
