Position: Functional Scientific personnel
Expertise: Physicist Oceanographer
Department: Ocean Physics
Premises: athens
With a B.Sc degree in Physics (Physics Department of the Capodestrian University of Athens), an Mphil degree in Physical Oceanography (Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography of Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, subject Lagrangian dispersion of fish egges) and a Phd in Physical Oceanography (Department of Marine Sciences of the University of the Aegean), I combine studies and expertise on horizontal and vertical mixing processing, and Data analysis on oceanographic data of hydrography (CTD), currents (ADCP) and turbulence (MicroTurboProfiler).

My recent scientific interest is focused on the stochastic modeling of vertical, turbulent, transport. In particular, I am interested in fundamental issues of turbulence, such as topological definition of turbulent mixing in one and more dimensions, statistical taxonomy of OneDimensional Turbulence (ODT) (Fluid Mechanical Overturning). As a consequence, I try to correlate the subjects above with vertical mixing processes (turbulent and double diffusion) in the ocean and atmosphere, as well in other ODT problems. Within these scopes, I have been analyzing ocean data regarding the Mediterranean and Black Seas.

Participation in more than 20 projects in the last 20 years, author of 18 publications in international journals and more than 20 presentations in International Confereces, the last 2 of which the MTS-Oceans of the IEEE. Also an expert of webGIS, with 10 years experience of ArcInfo and ArcIMS.
