Position: Functional Scientific personnel
Expertise: Marine Geologist
Department: Marine Geology & Geophysics
Premises: athens
I graduated in Faculty of Geology and Geoenvironment in 1979 at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. I work at HCMR since 1980 and my current position is Functional Scientific personnel A' in Institute of Oceanography.

The main axis of my research activity is the study of particulate matter fluxes, the spatiotemporal drivers, which control the transfer of particles, the quantification and geochemical characterization of fluxes between the different environments, such as continental margin, open slopes, submarine canyons, and open sea. This work is done mainly with my colleagues from HCMR and University of Athens and, as well, with other foreigner researchers especially from French, Spain, Italy, through collaborations founded mainly by EU. The study areas include the Western and Eastern Mediterranean, Black Sea. I have participated in more than 50 oceanographic cruises in Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, Red Sea and Atlantic Ocean.
