EUGENIA APOSTOLAKI
Position: Senior Researcher
Expertise: Biologist
Department: Biological Oceanography
Premises: crete
Eugenia was born in 1977 and raised in Heraklion Crete, Greece. She holds a BSc in Biology (2001), a MSc in Management of Terrestrial and Marine Resources (2004) and a PhD in Marine Ecology (2008). Her PhD thesis focused on the human impact on carbon and nutrient dynamics in seagrass (Posidonia oceanica) meadows.

Currently, Eugenia is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Oceanography. Her research focuses on the ecology and biogeochemistry of seagrasses. She studies the distribution, productivity and carbon and nutrient cycling in seagrass ecosystems, and the response of seagrass to environmental disturbance and global change. She is particularly interested in assessing the role of seagrass meadows to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
