Epaminondas D. Christou is a Research Director in the Institute of Oceanography of HCMR. He received B. Sc. (1981) from the University of Thessaloniki, M. Sc. (1984) and Ph. D. (1991) from the University of Athens. Since 1988, he has held a position as a researcher in HCMR and since 2003 as a Research Director. He has at shorter periods worked at: Station marine d'Endoume, Marseille, Kristineberg Marine Research Station, Rosential School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS), University of Miami. He has a research interest in zooplankton (especially copepods and jellyfish) ecology, physiology and production having worked in several locations (Mediterranean, Skagerrak, Swedish fjord) on fluxes associated to zooplankton. He has acted as coordinator in national and international projects of HCMR. He has been involved in scientific and organizing committees as well as in organizing international scientific workshops (committee member or coordinator). He has published over 70 papers, 50 of which in peer-reviewed Journals, and has supervised several PHD theses.
