Katerina Kikaki, MSc (akikakh@hcmr.gr), received her surveying engineering diploma from National Technical University of Athens (2012, NTUA) and her MSc in Oceanography and Management of Marine Environment from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2015, NKUA). 

She has also a specialization in education and a certificate in adult education. Since 2016, she has been a Research Assistant at Hellenic Centre of Marine Research (HCMR) and a PhD student at Remote Sensing lab of NTUA. Her research interests lie in Satellite Oceanography, Water Quality Monitoring, Ocean Color, Marine Pollution and Coastal Oceanography. She is also a member of IOCCG Task force: Remote sensing of marine litter and debris, Technical Chamber of Greece and Hellenic Oceanographers’ Association. 

Since 2013 she has involved in national and european research projects (Garnet, Kifisos Monitoring, ELPE, MARRE, 4S etc) and she has 15 publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and conferences. She has participated in workshops/summer school organized by EUMETSAT/ ESA. Her PhD is focused on Marine Pollution monitoring (including floating Plastic patches, Sargassum macroalgae and Oil spills detection) using remote sensing data.
