Argyro Adamopoulou graduated from the Oceanography Department of the University of Aegean (2011) and got her International Master of Science in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (EMBC) form the University of Ghent and University Pierre et Marie Curie - Paris 6 (2013). She received a grant from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (H.F.R.I) for the PhD entitled ''Microplastic pollution in the Greek seas''. Since 2018 is a PhD candidate at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) and Department of Chemistry, at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. 

Her main research work experience focuses in marine pollution from organic contaminants (PAHs and PCBs) and microplastics.  She has been involved in national and European research projects(EMODnet, NewSTHEPS, MSFD, MARRE, DEFISHGEAR, PLASTIC BUSTERS MPAs and CLAIM). She has 15 publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and conferences.

The aim of her PhD is to define the state of microplastic pollution in the Greek Seas, investigate in depth their polymer types and improve/experiment the microplastics sampling and analytical detection methods. At least share the data with the stake holders and society via publications and conferences.
