Dr. Alexandra Pavlidou is Research Director in Hellenic Center for Marine Research, Institute of Oceanography.

She is marine chemist.
Her research interests are mainly focused on chemical processes in the water column of marine environments (nutrient dynamics, and organic N and P, temporal trends); chemistry of dissolved gasses; marine pollution and eutrophication; assessment of the water quality and trophic status of coastal marine ecosystems; study of low oxygen / anoxic marine environments (biogeochemical processes, pressures, benthic fluxes).

Dr. Alexandra Pavlidou has participated/coordinated more than 80 research programs related to Water Quality Assessment, Marine Pollution and Biogeochemical Processes in Marine Ecosystems (e.g. MEDREGION-Support Mediterranean Member States towards the implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive new GES Decision and programmes of measures and contribute to regional/subregional cooperation, MSFD Monitoring Program, MEDCIS-Support Mediterranean Member States towards coherent and Coordinated Implementation of the second phase of the MSFD, EUROFLEETS/CRELEV, WFD Monitoring Program; PERSEUS, LEVECO, ACTIONMED, EMODnet-Chemistry, KRIPIS, SESAME, COCONET, SARGE, MED/POL etc).
