Dr. Constantine Parinos is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Oceanography of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research. He holds a PhD in Chemistry, an MSc in Chemical, Environmental and Computational Technology – Simulation and a BSc in Chemistry. His research interests focus on the study of the biogeochemical cycle of organic carbon (of both anthropogenic and natural origin) in the water column and marine sediments of coastal and open-ocean environments, with particular emphasis on investigating: (a) the anthropogenic footprint and sources of legacy and emerging organic contaminants; (b) the processes triggering and controlling organic matter production, transfer and fate as recorded in the chemical structure and abundance of lipid biomarkers and organic contaminants; (c) the processes controlling the atmospheric chemistry of legacy organic pollutants, as well as the coupling between atmosphere dynamics and ocean biogeochemistry; and (d) the links between Essential Ocean Variables, ocean biogeochemistry, and climate variability/change. 
He has been/is currently involved as a researcher in 37 international and national projects. HCMR PI for the "RHE-MEDiation - Responsive hub for long term governance to distress the Mediterranean Sea from chemical pollution", Horizon Europe Lighthouse Project and the National Research Infrastructure “E.N.I.R.I.S.S.T. - Intelligent Research Infrastructure for Shipping, Supply Chain, Transport and Logistics” and Project Coordinator of the environmental impact assessment “Study of the short- and medium-term environmental consequences of the sinking of the Agia Zoni II tanker on the marine ecosystem of the Saronikos Gulf”. 
He has published 50 articles in peer reviewed scientific journals, 3 book chapter and 157 abstracts in conference/national-international meetings/workshops proceedings.
