Dr. George Chatzigeorgiou is a Marine biologist with research activity at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research since 2004 and specialized expertise in the ecology and taxonomy of benthic macrofauna, particularly Polychaeta, as well as in the application of ecological quality biotic indices to soft- and hard-substrate communities. His work connects classical taxonomy, benthic ecology, functional diversity, aquaculture environmental monitoring and non-indigenous species research in ports, marinas and ship-hull biofouling. He has contributed to and/or coordinated national and European projects, with extensive experience in sampling design, scientific diving and underwater fieldwork, laboratory benthic analyses, statistical interpretation, technical reporting and scientific writing.
