Myrsini Charikleous is a biologist and works as research associate at the Institute of Oceanography of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR), Greece, since March 2025. She has been involved in research activities focusing on the collection and analysis of phytoplankton community abundance and biomass, using microscopy, image analysis, and advanced flow cytometry techniques, including the identification of harmful and toxic phytoplankton species. Her work also includes phytoplankton culture development, fieldwork participation and data analysis. She holds a BSc in Biology from the University of Crete, with a specialization in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology, and an MSc in “Applications of Biology” from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, focusing on Biotechnology and Molecular and Microbiological Analysis of Products and Foods. Her research interests include phytoplankton ecology, aquatic microbial diversity, marine and freshwater monitoring, and the application of modern laboratory and statistical analysis techniques. She has participated in national research projects and has presented her work at several national and international scientific conferences.
