Evangelos Alevizos is a Marine Geoscientist with remote sensing expertise in seafloor mapping. He has graduated from the Department of Oceanography and Marine Biosciences (University of the Aegean, Greece) and he has received his PhD from the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the Christian Albrechts Universitätzu Kiel (Germany, 2017). He has broad experience on geospatial and imaging techniques, involving hydro-acoustic datasets frommulti-beam echo-sounders, as well as space-borne and drone-based imagery from high-resolution optical sensors. His work focuses on the development of GIS and image analysis workflows and toolsincluding: • Machine learning classification/regression • Spectral/temporalcube image analysis • Geostatistical analysis • 3D mapping for addressing various marine and coastal challenges such as: • Seafloor habitat/substrate characterisation • Shallow bathymetry mapping • Nearshore geomorphology monitoring • Precision mapping of seaweed aquaculture Over the years, he has been involved in several interdisciplinary projects from the coastto the deep-seacollaborating with various institutes across the EU and beyond. His interest focuses on novel applicationsin marine observationand imaging from the sea-surface to the seafloor. Personal website
